Loudoun County Planning Commission Makes Recommendation for Approval of Invisible Towers – Bluemont Grain Elevator Special Exception Zoning Application

Friday, October 02, 2009 - On September 10, 2009 the Loudoun County Planning Commission voted 8 to 1 to forward the Invisible Towers’ Bluemont Special Exception Application with a recommendation for approval to the Board of Supervisors.   The Board of Supervisors will consider the Special Exception Application for the restoration and adaptive reuse of the Bluemont Grain Elevator at its October 13, 2009 meeting.  The proposed project is one of the most unique and complex tower projects ever proposed in Loudoun County.  Invisible Towers proposes to restore the historic grain elevator and support structures and utilize them as a cell tower by extending the top of the elevator utilizing concealment panels.  These panels will match the existing structure and conceal the wireless carrier antennas installed inside.
